Hatha yoga is the traditional form of yoga, out of which many branches of yoga have evolved. Hatha yoga is about balancing the body and mind. ‘Ha’ represents the esoteric sun, and ‘tha’ the moon. The practice of Hatha yoga aims to join, yoke, or balance these two energies by combining various postures and breath, in a perfect flow.
While traditional yoga may not be appropriate for or accessible to everyone, chair yoga is an excellent option for absolutely everyone. Chair yoga is focused on using a chair to provide support and stability while still getting all the benefits of yoga.
Restorative yoga Practice brings deep healing and stress release to mind and body. The effortless poses are held for a longer duration, assisted by bolsters, blocks and blankets. The intention is to be present, maybe resting the awareness on the breath, while we open and stretch the body in a soothing manner, and release tensions. It’s luxurious and suitable for everyone!!
Born and raised in India, I grew up with Yoga around me. I observed my parents practicing Yoga at home, but didn’t realize then how deeply this childhood experience will influence me. I decided to get certified as a yoga teacher, after trying a career at Arthur Andersen as a CPA. At the firm I soon realized that the corporate setting was not my cup of tea. I craved for something more holistic and calming, and was so grateful to find Yoga, as I realized I had found my passion.
Becoming a yoga teacher has been a blessing that has given me much Joy and peace, and has been a wonderful way to connect with others. In teaching I receive more than I give.
The classes I offer focus on relaxation, strength & flexibility, but most importantly breathing consciously as one moves through the poses and stretches. It’s a beautiful thing to quiet the mind and relax the body.
